Tyrone Mings wasted no time in endearing himself to Aston Villa fans following his loan move in January 2019.

His first goal for the club came in his second match but his most important contribution came during the promotion-winning run in the second half of that season.

A 10-game winning streak included a decisive goal from Mings against Blackburn, allowing Dean Smith's side to qualify for the play-offs with two games to spare.

They squeezed past rivals West Bromwich Albion on penalties to set up a Wembley date with Derby, despite looking out of the promotion race just three months before.

And, marshalled by Mings, Villa's defence stood firm against Frank Lampard's Rams. Jack Marriott's deflected goal was the only blotch on a resolute showing but, crucially for Villa, Anwar El Ghazi and John McGinn had done the business at the other end.

Villa were back in the Premier League after three years away, and Mings had found a new permanent home in the Midlands.
